Square Off All

Ever wanted to square off your multiple positions in one go?

The ability to quickly closing squaring off positions can save you from incurring huge losses, especially in a volatile market situation.

Our new update just brought this option for you. Now you can select which position type will be squared off when you tap on the “Square off all” button.

Head out to Profile → Settings → Square Off All preference to select the positions types you want to square off.

Positions preferences has 3 sections:

  1. Exchange Segment - Can be NSE Equity , NSE F&O  Currency and MCX
  2. Product Type - Intraday and Delivery
  3. Position Type - Long and Short

When you click on the Square-off All button you will be shown a confirmation dialog which will show what kind of positions will be squared off.

Upon confirmation, positions which match checkboxes in ALL 3 SECTIONS in preferences will be squared off at market price.

This system does not work for Pay Later(MTF) positions and they will have to be squared off separately.

Lets understand position matching:

Scenario 1:

All the checkboxes are selected in preferences. Then, upon confirmation, all open positions will be squared off at market price.

Scenario 2:

You have a {Carryforward, Long} position in NIFTY 17600 CE. In your preferences, the exchange segment NSE F&O is not selected but DELIVERY and LONG are selected. Then, upon confirmation, this position will not be squared off as it does not match Exchange Segment section.

Scenario 3:

You have a {Intraday, Long} position in NIFTY 17600 CE. In your preferences, the position type LONG is not selected but NSE F&O and DELIVERY are selected. Then, upon confirmation, this position will not be squared off as it does not match the Position Type section

Scenario 4:

Suppose you want to setup in such a way that All NSE FO positions get squared off but none of the Currency, Equity and MCX positions get squared off.

To achieve this, in the Exchange Segments section, unselect everything except NSE FO and select everything else in Position Type and Product Type sections. Then, upon confirmation, all positions in NSE FO will get squared off

Square Off Beyond the Lots-Per-Order Limit

NSE has a limit on the number of lots per order(currently the limit is 36 lots per order for Nifty and Banknifty scrips, and for Finnifty it is 45). This means you can’t place a buy or sell order with lots more than the max limit per order. Same is true for square-off orders.
We have introduced a new functionality  to further make the square-off order process seamless. For order lots which are beyond the maximum limit for lots-per-order square off, the app will place multiple orders to accommodate all the lots, until all the lots are squared off.

The new feature with lots split-up into multiple orders will resolve the issue some users faced while squaring off orders above the limit of lots-per-order.

For example,

Scenario 1

You have 30 lots of Nifty 17400 CE and select ‘Square-Off All’ option. Here, one order with 30 lots will be placed.

Scenario 2

You have 50 lots of Nifty 17400 CE and select the ‘Square-Off All’ option. Here, one order will be placed for 36 lots and another order of 14 lots will be placed by the app automatically.

Scenario 3

You have 80 lots of Nifty 17400 CE and select ‘Square-Off All’ option. Here, two orders with 36 lots will be placed and a third order of 8 lots will be placed by the app.
